The Tyll company was founded in 1992. The founding idea was a response to the lack of spare parts for newly imported cars into Czechoslovakia after 1989. In 1995, there was a significant expansion into the production of exhaust systems for Škoda Favorit cars and gradually for all Škoda vehicles. In 2000, a distribution and assembly center was opened in Prague. Due to the increase in production, new facilities were gradually built, including a manufacturing and administrative center in the Nebovidy village with an annual production capacity of 350,000 units (in 2000) and a new logistics area with a storage capacity of 20,000 exhaust systems (2003). To improve production efficiency, enhance manufacturing processes, and consider the environment, the company modernized its machinery and implemented ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards. The establishment of a separate tool shop, satisfying the requirements for both exhaust production and external demands, was also an integral part of the company’s development. In 2005, to meet the growing demand for Tyll products, the construction of a new modern hall with a total area of 10,000 m2 began. As a result of self-construction, the business activities expanded into other fields, including the opening of a locksmith workshop specializing in the production of steel structures. From 2004 to 2007, a concrete plant and a carpentry workshop were built and gradually expanded. In 2004, Tyll entered into a strategic cooperation with MTS, an Italian company and one of the largest European manufacturers of exhaust systems, becoming the distributor of their products for the Czech and Slovak markets.
The key position in sales and production is occupied by exhaust systems for Škoda vehicles, as well as certain types of exhaust systems for foreign cars, sports exhausts for export to the EU, special exhaust systems for industrial machinery, and components for original equipment manufacturers. Since 2013, the company has also focused on non-automotive production, supplying parts for sanitary technology, food mills, furniture components, and more.
In May 2020, the ownership structure of the company changed. We still intend to focus on manufacturing exhaust systems for Škoda and Dacia vehicles, as well as producing sports and special exhaust systems. The new goal of the company is to utilize the existing potential and increase the share of non-automotive products.
